At My Kidney Care, we are committed to protecting your personal health information (PHI) and ensuring transparency in how your data is handled. This policy aligns with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
 
Important: This site is an educational resource and not a medical device. We do not provide clinical diagnoses or treatment plans.

  • Health Data: Diabetes status, Hypertension status, Heart disease status, Smoking status, Alcohol status, and family history of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).

  • Testing Status: Information on whether or not you have had laboratory tests for kidney disease (uACR and eGFR).

    • Note: We do not ask for or collect your actual laboratory test results.

  • Health Care Providers: Information on whether you have a family doctor or a specialist.
     

2. Purpose of Collection
The information collected is used for educational and community-advocacy purposes. We use your data to:

  • Generate personalized kidney health education materials.

  • Provide insights into kidney health risk factors.

  • Send reminders for future testing (only if you provide express consent).

  • Market Research & Studies: We may invite you to participate in market research, community surveys, or health studies aimed at improving kidney care outcomes.
     

3. Data Residency & Security

  • Canadian Hosting: To ensure the highest level of protection, all data is hosted on a Google Cloud Platform instance physically located within Canada.

  • Encryption: Your data is protected using industry-standard encryption protocols both at rest and in transit.

  • Access Control: Access to PHI is strictly limited to authorized team members required to maintain the platform.
     

4. Consent & Your Rights

  • Express Consent: We will never use your contact information for follow-up reminders, newsletters, or research invitations without your explicit "Opt-In."

  • Market Research Participation: Participation in any research or study is strictly voluntary. Choosing not to participate will not affect your access to the educational resources on this site.

  • Withdrawal of Consent: You may request the deletion of your data or unsubscribe from communications at any time via the link in our footer.

  • Access: You have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
